Backing up our computer

To make backups for our computer (provided thanks to the Story County IT Department as they upgraded their systems), we recently purchased a Western Digital 160 GB Passport. This provides plenty of space to make multiple backups of the 20 GB computer.

We initially plugged this into the USB hub; but, found that the computer wanted us to install the disk rather than recognizing it automatically. We were able to make it work properly - have it recognized as an additional disk - by plugging it directly into the USB port (the lower port was used).

With this setup we were able to copy files for backup readily.

Indexing and Digitizing References

Northeast Document Conservation Center was included in the references of the above. See its Handbook for Digital Projects. Found via searching Northeast Document Conservation Center for Handbook when original link did not work.

The Consortium of Rhinebeck History offers its archives as an example of what might be useful in indexing. Headings are as shown:
